PRIORITY OUTCOMES

Providing a great Club Experience means we meet youth where they are, and understand what they need to grow and succeed. In doing so, we emphasize three key outcome areas: Academic Success, Character & Leadership and Healthy Lifestyles. These focus areas provide a platform for helping all kids build the skills and relationships needed to achieve a great future.

Academic Success

We strive to enable our youth to be successful in school as well as instill a passion for lifelong learning through our academic impact program and our daily hands-on learning and exploration activities.

Healthy Lifestyles

Targeted programs delivered by our Clubs contribute to children and youth learning about the importance of healthy lifestyles, including eating a healthy diet, practicing healthy lifestyle choices and making a lifelong commitment to physical fitness

Character & Leadership

Our character and leadership development programs are used year-round for fostering young people's character, personal growth, and leadership qualities by promoting service to Club, community and family, academic success and life goals.

CORE PROGRAMMING

What our youth learn in Club programs will last a lifetime! Every kid who comes to the Boys & Girls Club of Aberdeen Area is unique. Each child has different needs, interests, passions, and skills. That is why our Club boasts nearly 50+ different programs and events to meet the diverse needs and interests of our members. What they learn in these programs can provide the foundations for a lifelong love of learning. The club offers an After School Program and a Summer Program. We are also open on non-school days as we follow the Aberdeen School District's academic year calendar.

Education & Career Development

We offer daily afterschool homework help and tutoring as well as money management classes, college and career preparation, computer classes, science camps, reading clubs, stem programs, career exploration activities and much more.

Health & Life Skills

The Club plays an important role in helping our members make smart decisions and establish healthy habits. From building self-esteem to dealing with peer pressure to creating healthy eating habits, we offer comprehensive health and life skills programming.

Character & Leadership Development

These programs give members ample opportunity to serve their community and others as they realize they are part of something much bigger than themselves.

The Arts

We are pleased to offer an array of arts programs that are as broad as our members’ interests. Whether its music, fine arts, drama or dance, the arts room is one of the most popular places to be at the Club.

Sports, Fitness & Recreation

We offer a variety of sports & fitness programming here at our Club.  Sports and fitness programs help build sportsmanship, encourage teamwork and promote constructive use of leisure time through athletic leagues, individual sports and social competence.

DEVELOPING 21ST CENTURY LEADERS

Power Time

Boys & Girls Clubs seek to provide an outcome-driven Club Experience that helps young people achieve academic success, good character & citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. When Boys & Girls Clubs offer extended learning opportunities and educational enrichment programming during the non-school hours, they help improve young people’s academic performance and encourage them to graduate from high school, pursue a post-secondary education and develop a lifelong love of learning. Homework completion is a critical component of young people’s academic success.

This program is offered to Boys & Girls Club members in grades K-12. All members are required to participate per Club policy. As a 21st Century Grant Learning Center, we offer homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activties to members on a daily basis.

Members are divided among their grade levels in various areas of the Club to either work on their homework assignments from school, silent read or participate in an educational activity or lesson.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade will play structured games and activities.
