Summer Reading Challenge
We are excited to bring our Club kiddos a fun new incentive program to encourage reading during the summer! Hosted by our local K.O. Lee Library in partnership with our Boys & Girls Club, the Summer Reading Challenge is a fantastic way to encourage literacy, imagination, and a love of reading among our Club members in Grades 1–12.
Program Duration:
- Program will begin on Tuesday, May 27
Reading Log System:
- 1 Reading Log per Club member
- 1 Minute of Reading = 1 Point
- 1 Book = 50 Points
- 100 Points = 1 Prize
- Club members can take their reading logs home to have a parent or guardian sign them or keep them at the Club to have staff sign them and keep track of their progress.
How it Works?
- Reading Logs Available @ the Club (Members first & last name)
- Log your points & get some cool prizes!
- Ms. Sabrina from the Library will be at the Club on Fridays to hand out the prizes & check on progress!
- You earn a prize for every 100 points!
Reading Hours @ the Club:
- Mondays & Wednesdays 3:00pm to 4:00pm - Classroom
- Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00am to 10:00am - Classroom
- 4+ Hours of Reading Time Available Per Week!
- When reading hour is announced, Club members may go to the Classroom to read the books available or bring one from home!
- Staff will sign off on how many minutes a member has read on their reading log that day
Goals of the Reading Challenge:
- Encourage a daily reading habit.
- Make reading fun and rewarding.
- Promote engagement with the local library.
- Foster reading comprehension and discussion.
