Child Safety is Job #1

The Boys & Girls Club of Aberdeen Area is all about creating a place where every kid feels safe and connected: a place to belong and a place to become. This is that place for over 1,000 youth in the Aberdeen area & beyond. We are a place for kids to go after school, during school breaks, and during the summer to grow beyond the classroom. We help kids and teens achieve great futures by providing a safe and fun space, an engaging Club experience, and caring professionals to guide them along the way.

The safety of young people at Boys & Girls Clubs is always our top priority. Youth who are mentally and physically safe are better able to learn, grow, and thrive. Boys & Girls Clubs of America works continuously to enhance safety policies, practices, and trainings to ensure they are centered on youth’s needs. There is nothing more important to us than keeping children safe and protected.

Boys & Girls Clubs do not tolerate inappropriate behavior of any kind, including child sexual abuse or misconduct. From strict adherence to policies and guidelines within Club facilities and staffing structure, to equipping young people with the critical thinking and social-emotional skills to make healthy, safe choices, ensuring Club members are safe is the first step to their success.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America advocated for the passage of the U.S. PROTECT ACT, which improved background screening systems and access, and is proud to partner with the following organizations to develop safety practices that benefit ALL youth-serving organizations.

SECTION 504 OF THE REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973 Boys & Girls Club of Aberdeen Area strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities. We have invested a significant amount of resources to help ensure that we comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

All current or prospective members, who are qualified persons with a disability, will be able to participate in the services proved by our Club, or from participating on an equal basis.

We will do everything possible to establish a process to ensure that the Clubs policy's does not prevent current or prospective members, who are qualified persons with a disability, from participating in the services provided by the Club, to include our medication policy.
